Tips for Self-Care

It is important to take the time to make yourself a priority! Self-care is not selfish; it is for your mind, body and soul. Give yourself the same care and attention that you would give to your friends and family. Here are some things you can do:

Daily Affirmations

Wake up every morning and write down 3 positive affirmations. You won’t believe how much it can help! Don’t forget that you have control over how you speak to yourself.

Listen to your body

Your body is trying to tell you something! It is always hard to cancel or change plans, but sometimes you need to listen to your body and rest. Not being able to do as much as others does not make you a failure; don’t push yourself too hard. It is absolutely okay to say, “not today” without feeling guilty. Take that nap!

Create a routine

It can help to have a morning or evening routine to calm your mind and stay focused. Pick three things to accomplish and once you do you will feel good about yourself, even if that is the only thing you did that day.

Take time to do things that you enjoy

It is important to take time for yourself and to do the things that bring you joy! Whether that be going out for a walk, taking a relaxing bath, or even buying yourself flowers. No matter how big or small the task may be, doing what you love will make you feel fulfilled.

Set boundaries

Never feel guilty for doing what’s best for you. Learning to be able to say ‘no’ to things you wish you could do is crucial. It takes great self-awareness to be able to know your own limits.

Move your body

Whether it be going for a walk outside, going for a run, doing yoga or working out, it is important to move your body.

Talk to loved ones

When you are having a hard time call a friend or family member! Sharing your feelings with the ones you love helps them better understand what you are going through and helps you move forward. Instead of holding them inside, accept and express the feelings you have.

Invest in your health

What you put into your body matters. Be intentional with the vitamins you are taking and what you are eating. Invest in your health by learning a new recipe, ordering vitamins tailored to your needs, signing up for a gym/yoga studio, setting aside time for yourself and more! You are your best investment.
